"Due to his achievements in siring the record number of twenty-three British champions and a total of over fifty champions all over the world, Ch Kennelgarth Vikings merits special coverage, so details of hos background and his progeny are included.
No other Scottish Terrier approaches his record as a sire, his nearest rival bewing Ch Heather Necessity, who sired eighteen British champions. Indeed, this total is believed not to have been exceeded by any dog in any breed in the Kennel Club records, so he does indeed qualify for a special place in the history of the breed.
Viking was born in 1959 and died in 1971. He was bred by his owner and lived all his life at Kennelgarth. He was a dog with a triple vocation; he was a top show champion, an outstanding sire and a valued companion. He had a wonderful temperament, fearless, good--natured and without vice, never agressive or quarrelsome, and gentle with the smallest child. Yet he was a great showman, a born leader and the unchallenged chief in the pack. His pedigree is appended, as so many Scottish terreiers trace back to him that this will probably be of general interest."
